Black Mountain Artisans

The window changes almost every 2 weeks.  We assist a yearly fundraiser for the local pre school and display a tree house and hand made and hand knit farm set to be raffled off.  This usually happens in April or May. Or follow the theme of what is happening locally like the yearly conference  ....of hope.  We highlight new members, or new work of existing members. Or we just display what looks wonderful in the window that month. 

Laura Lee Fritz is a new member of the cooperative. She has exhibited all over California, Alaska and Western US. She creates quilted and appliqued vests and jackets with bold designs of plants and animals. She is about to release a book on continuous machine embroidery patterns.  Her work will be highlighted during the month of February.

Every Tuesday from 1:00 - 3:00 PM there is a knit or spin "clinic", organized through the free skool program in West Marin.
Anyone can come in and ask advice or learn a new fiber skill, from knitting to crocheting to spinning on a spindle. It is fun there is a core group of knitters that come almost every Tuesday. We laugh, knit, spin and talk.

Every Spring and every Fall, Mimi Luebbermann and Marlie de Swart teach classes in spinning wheel spinning.  This includes classes for beginning spinners all the way to advanced spinners.  How to recognize good fleeces, scoure, card and comb and prepare fleeces for spinning.
